You wouldn’t think a story involving conceptual art and a university-based maker space would have a lot to do with metal fabricating, but you’d be wrong in this one instance. The nylon or polyester material of tent bodies can easily be sewn onto other tents or camping gear to patch holes or tears. If you want to get more creative, turn it into gym bags, grocery bags, or wallets for yourself or friends and family. If you’d rather ship the tent off to someone else to repurpose, programs like Green Guru accept donations and reinvent them as backpacks or even beer-can holders for bikes.

When I got out of the service, I came back and started doing business with Leo again, selling parts and equipment. You have these little fiefdoms that exist in these big corporate structures. The corporate ladder is a strange thing. Everybody’s climbing the corporate ladder, and everyone is stepping on everyone else’s fingers as they climb up. You have a tremendous amount of in-fighting.

It’s basically a trade off that allows you to use less perfect rods, for the cost of less vertical precision on your Z axis (which is your most precise axis by far anyway), and it prevents those imperfections from being transferred to the rest of the printer.

To ensure the optimal performance from these premium fasteners, they must be installed properly. This means a clean fastener, installed into a clean hole, with the correct lubricant or sealant (shown). If all the right steps are followed with every single fastener, the maximum benefit of the engineering inside them can be realized.

Later, I convince one of the hospital authorities to take me on a tour. Binoculars channel light to your eye so the anatomy of our peepers often comes into play.  Officers unaware of the exit pupil may purchase a product that is not optimal for their needs.  Exit pupil refers to the shaft of light that leaves the eyepiece and hits your eye.  Lombard explained that measured in diameter, the amount of light can be determined by dividing your objective lens with the magnification power. For instance, an 8×25 binocular is going to give you an exit pupil of 3.13 mm. This is acceptable for daytime viewing because the pupil is generally in the 2 mm to 4mm range in this lighting.

An example of an interesting join option is the use of grid patterns, which can be done at extremely high speeds to cover available areas. This has been shown to be extremely effective in joining a wide range of dissimilar metals, including copper on 718 super alloy, aluminum on brass, aluminum on copper, stainless steel on aluminum, stainless steel on copper, titanium on aluminum, and titanium on copper. In fact, we struggle to find material combinations that we have not managed to join with some degree of success (FIGURE 6).
